Stanley Generations Partners With Turnpike Music

Performer and record producer Nathan Stanley announces the opening of  Stanley Generation Records and the signing of that label’s first act, Laura Dodd, winner of the 2010 Inspirational Country Music new artist of the year award.

Stanley Generation Records is currently winding up negotiations for the label’s product to be distributed nationally by Sony/RED and has retained record industry veteran Larry Pareigis and his Nine North/Turnpike Music team to oversee radio promotion.

Stanley brings a lifetime of music business experience to his new enterprise.  He was virtually a toddler when he began performing on stage with his grandfather Ralph Stanley’s band, the Grammy-winning Clinch Mountain Boys.  Beginning as a spoons player, he graduated into roles as lead vocalist, mandolinist and rhythm guitarist with the band.  Off stage, he participated in every essential business chore from selling merchandise to recording and producing.  As a Clinch Mountain Boy, he has performed in all 50 states and Canada on stages ranging from bluegrass festival shelters to the Grand Ole Opry to Carnegie Hall.

Last year, at the age of 18, he released his fourth album, My Kind Of Country, a project he also co-produced.  This collection of traditional country songs was his fourth solo album and featured guests appearances by such luminaries as Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Gene Watson, Del McCoury, John Anderson, Rhonda Vincent and Patty Loveless.  He is currently producing a tribute album to his legendary grandfather.  It too will be on his new label.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that music has been my life,” says Stanley.  “I love performing and recording, but I’m also fascinated with music as a business, as a way of developing and supporting artists.  I want Stanley Generation Records to give artists the support and freedom to do what they do best—and that is to transform people’s lives with their music.  That’s why I’m so happy to see Laura Dodd as our flagship artist.  She’s an amazing entertainer.”

Dodd, a native of Gadsden, Alabama, comes to Stanley Generation Records with a rich history of performing.  Both a formally trained and a church-seasoned vocalist, Dodd has done shows with George Jones, Rascal Flatts, Patty Loveless, Restless Heart, Josh Turner, Bruce Hornsby and Ben Vereen, among others.  She also performed at the White House on behalf of the Miracle League World Series, at an event hosted by President and Mrs. George W. Bush.

“I’ve watched Nathan develop as a musical mentor,” says Dodd, “and he’s seen me grow as a singer and songwriter,” Dodd says.  “I’m thrilled to help him inaugurate Stanley Generation Records and honored to be associated with such a legendary musical name.”

Stanley Generation Records expects to release Dodd’s first single from her forthcoming album in June.  In addition to recording for Stanley, she will also tour with him on selected dates as well as perform separately with her own band.
